Course Description
Outbreaks of infectious disease have had profound impacts on human societies, and continue to impact communities in the present day. The course includes readings that situate selected epidemics in their social contexts, and explores the biological aspects of each infection. Course topics include plague, cholera, smallpox, yellow fever, influenza, HIV/AIDS, and current anti-vaccination movements.
