Course Description
This course examines the influence of gendered race relations on crime and justice within the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, age, and geographic region. Introduces key concepts and theoretical frameworks of critical race theory, critical feminist theory, intersectionality, and critical criminology to understand how social forces shape, foster, produce, and perpetuate inequalities throughout the main components of the criminal justice system: police, courts, and corrections. Covers victimization and criminal behavior patterns, theoretical explanations, and the dynamics of differential involvement of specific groups in the criminal justice system.
